The Grand Summit Hotel - a Summit Hotel
What to expect: Opened in 1868 as The Blackburn House, a country resort for New Yorkers, the hotel was rebuilt in 1929. It retains its brick-Tudor styling, including wide hallways with coved ceilings, chair rails, and moldings. Business travelers arrive during the week, and leisure travelers come on weekends, where they mingle with locals celebrating special occasions.
Amenity highlights: Beginning with a full buffet breakfast each morning, complimentary food and beverage service runs around the clock on many days, including cocktails and appetizers on Tuesday evenings, afternoon tea on weekdays, 24-hour coffee/tea service in the lobby daily, and sandwiches/snacks in an old-fashioned, self-serve refrigerator in the lobby all night on weekdays.
In addition to the hotel's small fitness room, guests enjoy complimentary access to the Summit YMCA four blocks away that includes an Olympic-sized swimming pool, basketball courts, and a health club with fitness equipment, workout classes, and massage.
